The training on this spiritual triad was accomplished with thirty members/leaders in six sessions through the use of Bible instruction and other professional materials.  Interviews, post-test, and focus groups were used to measure the effect of the training. Olive United Methodist Church, Topeka, Kansas, the researcher formed five spiritual formation groups of three led by five trained spiritual friends.  Groups attended ten weekly sessions of prayer and Wednesday night Bible study. It was designed to help congregations and their communities determine their unique ministry callings. Discovery process methods included Bible study, interviews, individual and group assessments, observer-monitor sheets and a list of possible health ministry ideas. The four tested congregations exhibited greater interest in faith and health. These congregations determined the most prevalent congregational diseases, stressors, and some previously unknown health issues. The case study methodology incorporated questionnaires to determine prayer habits and ministry possibilities. Documentation included observations of members at prayer and personal testimonies about answers to prayers. Methods used were workshops, a live radio broadcast and surveys.  The curriculum bridged generational communication gaps and stressed the importance of spirituals, hymns, gospel, and contemporary Christian music using techniques developed to educate and stimulate creativity. Couples using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator [registered symbol] produced a joint spiritual discipline during marital counseling sessions with the pastor.  By practicing this discipline together, would they draw closer to God and to each other?  Focus groups, journals, and surveys showed the couples benefited from their joint spiritual discipline. The model uses a threefold, concurrent methodology that envisions acting into new ways of thinking by transforming 1) preaching into innovative dialogue, 2) entrepreneurship into collaboration, and 3) ministry-for-the-neighborhood into ministry-with-the-neighborhood. Test findings suggest that traditional congregations can be significantly transformed by relational, small group dynamics. In the four-phase process, one reads (lectio), reflects on (meditatio), responds to (oratio), and rests in (contemplatio) God's presence as 'heard' in the text of scripture or life.  Stephen Ministers at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, practiced lectio on scripture, life events, and relationship with a care receiver for six months.  Journal entries, written and oral response to reflection questions, and comments, concerns, and questions addressed to the researcher at monthly check-in were analyzed.  Findings support that lectio practice increased participants' attentiveness to God's presence in their lives and Stephen
