To that end the project produces a handbook for preaching preparation and employs focus groups and an experiential survey to test the effectiveness of this homiletic method. In nine sessions the program deals with the nature and purpose of the liturgical homily, qualities of outstanding preaching, creativity, preaching the Scriptures, the preacher's faith, understanding the congregation, preaching the prophetic word, and preaching on occasions such as weekday eucharists, weddings, funerals, and children's liturgies. The manual includes questions for group discussion, workshop activities, and suggestions for the following group meeting.
