changes in spiritual well-being as a result of a program of holistic Christian mentoring with a small group component. Specifically, this mentoring was geared to four components of spiritual well-being: spiritual development/formation, physical fitness, intellectual fitness, and emotional/relational fitness. This research was a pilot test of a model that may be used in future leadership development. A three-part assessment was done in a cross-sectional design with students being tested at four different points of enrollment and after graduation.  Participants completed a researcher-designed self-evaluation of their spiritual growth, a modified version of the Spiritual Life Inventory, and a taped semi-structured interview. The 'experience' chapter outlines a seven-week group fasting experience led by the student.  The group was pre- and post-tested. Five small groups participated in a ten-month program of spiritual formation using John Wesley's 'band' model.  A questionnaire was administered to the small groups and the rest of the congregation before and after the program.  The small groups experienced significannt spiritual renewal but the remainder of the congregation did not.
