The project utilizes a survey procedure sampling 345 Faithbridge attenders who responded to a researcher-designed questionnaire.  Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate responses.  Factors most highly associated with Faithbridge's assimilation initiatives related to personal discipleship, utilizing women in leadership, developing leaders, pastoral emphasis on assimilation, asking for high levels of commitment, and clearly defining the profile of an assimilated individual. The research consisted of interviews with sixteen church planters who had been mentored and had planted at least one reproducing church.  The findings revealed that subjects viewed their mentoring relationships as a key component in their preparation for church planting and an important factor in their decision to plant a reproducing church. The project finds no significant differences among the three groups of pastors regarding religious and existential well-being and use of self-care support systems, nor are there significant correlations among the pastor groups with respect to spiritual well-being and self-care support systems. As people outwardly respond to the grace of God in a worship service, they meet God in a profound and transformational way, more deeply than they would if they had only responded inwardly. The project initiated an invitational ministry time during Sunday morning worship of Memorial United Methodist Church and Patton United Methodist Church in Franklin, North Carolina. The project develops a ministry team manual based on a Vineyard-style prayer method and trains members to participate in this invitational prayer ministry. During the four Sundays of Advent, 1996, 201 persons responded to this ministry. They report finding love, peace, comfort, joy, and encouragement in the ministry time experience. Four such congregations, each more than 30 years old, have grown from an average worship attendance of fewer than 80 to an average of more than 125 within a 10-year period. The project devises and administers a Turnaround Church Survey for use in interviewing pastors and lay leaders in these congregations. The independent variable was the pastoral succession rate and the dependent variables for church growth were average Sunday school attendance, average worship attendance, average professions of faith, and average annual payout of apportionments. The project distributed a 69-item questionnaire to 1,003 such women along with the Spiritual Well-Being Scale. The questionnaire assessed perceptions of well-being of ministers' spouses in five domains of life--self, marriage, work, church. and community. Although evidence of significant stress appeared in various domains, this population demonstrated spiritual and emotional health. Several factors could be correlated with a high degree of spiritual well-being: initial sense of call to ministry, self-efficacy and differentiation in home and church, healthy communication in marriage, financial support from congregations, and presence of support and friendships outside the church. One hundred-seventeen pastors from the Missouri East conference of the United Methodist Church responded to a 20-question sermon-preparation survey measuring how pastors establish priorities, study time, resources, prayer life, planning, and techniques. Secular research has been skeptical of relationships between religion and personal and family life.  The doctrine of the Trinity provides a theological basis for this study. Assessment instruments (SFI and SWBS) indicate that a population of healthy to midrange families with preference for a centripetal style of functioning report high levels of spiritual, religious, and existential well-being. Significant, positive correlations exist between perceptions of family system and perceptions of spiritual well-being. Data was analyzed from 242 surveys and 92 extensive interviews from Estonian-speaking and Russian-speaking persons, from twelve nationalities, professing Christian conversion since the collapse of Soviet communism.
