This model was laid out in a manual.  A panel of experts who were members of the court system as well as pastors of local churches evaluated the effectiveness of this manual. This was accomplished by the use of qualitative and quantitative methods.  Small group participants determined that they had experienced 'bounded set' behavior at this church.  A significant relationship was found between their desire for peer approval and authority figure approval, and their tendency to conform to small group and congregational norms. It includes documentary and field research.  The samples in the survey are 200 students from four Bible colleges in Thailand.  The survey also sets a random example from the designed group in order to compare the results with those 200 students. A post-test helped determine participant experiences and the impact of course components on participant healing.  Results show that all students had beneficial experiences; greatest healing occurred in participants' ability to trust God, embrace truth and forgive. Less than fifty percent had negative experiences; most negative experiences involved group conflict. It reviewed literature that focused on the black presence in the Bible, history and legacy of slavery, PTSS, racism, and church involvement. Africa's involvement in being the cradle of civilization was also explored.  Additionally, questionnaires disseminated to CAABBs were analyzed. The results of the survey indicated that some forms of PTSS do exist in the lives of African Americans. Four groups of active, long-term church members answered a questionnaire, pre-intervention, prepared by the author.  Three groups out of the four received the intervention of professionally marketed inventories with the fourth group being the control group.  Post-intervention all four groups again answered the author's questionnaire.  The changes they made on the questionnaire post-intervention showed no significant difference between the control group and those receiving intervention. Twenty parishioners completed an assessment survey after the morning worship service on Sunday, October 3, 2004. Group members completed the assessment survey the first day of the group, October, 6, 2004. The group completed the post test on the last day of the group, December 22, 2004. The results indicate that group participants experienced some spiritual growth and confirmed three of the five goals of this project. The tool consists of ten sets of brief quotations from Christian spirituality resources, arranged topically. The author distributed the readings via e-mail and asked for reflective responses. Pre- and post-assessment surveys revealed that participants grew in appreciation for formational reading and reflective practice, developed an increased awareness of writings in the area of spiritual formation, and grew in their awareness of their relationship with God. This was achieved through a two weekend grief retreat and sixteen sessions of spiritual direction. Nineteen of the participants completed pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess the impact of the formative event. The greatest benefit was in terms of increasing emotional and spiritual healing, promoting a greater experience of God, and learning how to express grief more constructively.
