The project then analyzes the apostle Paul's leadership style in order to formulate a model of early church leadership.  Confessions and governmental style of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) are analyzed to determine the Presbyterian Church's understanding of Christian leadership.  Practical examples of leadership are drawn from the parish using a project funded by the Lilly Foundation to illustrate leadership issues in the local congregation.  The project concludes with a guide to understanding and developing Christian leadership. The thesis correlates the type of leadership the pastor uses to the amount of leadership the lay people exhibit.  The research includes writing papers on leadership and the Body of Christ.  A leadership questionnaire will be used.  A ministry task will be reported detailing each aspect of leadership and delegation and follow through. Particular emphasis is given to exploring preaching and leadership styles which encourage meaningful change.  A process was developed for drafting, revising, and approving a mission statement using sermons, surveys, committee evaluations, and congregational information meetings.  This model for change places a high priority on the role of pastor as preacher, liturgist, and theologian.
