The project studies the form and movement of lament psalms and offers five theological insights. It traces the development of the Presbyterian rite in the United States and examines its liturgical shape and theology.  It examines the various texts of the rite and assesses the extent to which they provide opportunity of lament. The project then analyzes the apostle Paul's leadership style in order to formulate a model of early church leadership.  Confessions and governmental style of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) are analyzed to determine the Presbyterian Church's understanding of Christian leadership.  Practical examples of leadership are drawn from the parish using a project funded by the Lilly Foundation to illustrate leadership issues in the local congregation.  The project concludes with a guide to understanding and developing Christian leadership. The first chapter defines the Word of God for three key Reformed Theologians: John Calvin, the Westminster Divines, and Karl Barth.  These definitions are then connected to how they understand the covenant relationship between God and humanity.  Covenant relationship is then related to the essential elements of Reformed worship.
