In the process the additional purpose of realizing growth through fostering congregational unity was set. Chapter 1 introduces the project's original aim, goal and plan. Chapter 2 describes the first retreat. Chapter 3 describes the teaching sessions the author conducted with various groups. Chapter 4 describes mission statements used as guides for our writing. Chapter 5 describes the preaching of the sermon series. Chapter 6 describes the final retreat. Chapter 7 provides conclusions, final evaluations and future hopes. An extended period of church conflict marked by multiple church splits resulted in a negative inward focus and the subsequent loss of morale and mission. The director facilitated this process by leading the church through a visioning process which culminated in the writing of a church mission statement.
