He demonstrates that the immanence of God is without meaning apart from the Bible's teaching on the transcendence of God. Through use of biblical exegesis and the paradigm of theological reflection the project was applied to the author's local church context to increase the emphasis on the transcendence of God in their worship. Ninety-one subjects were given the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and randomly divided into two groups composed of approximately equal members of SJs, NFs, NTs and SPs.  Group 2 viewed soundless videos of five sermon illustrations which had one central emotion while Group 1 viewed the same five videos with a pulpit superimposed in front of the preacher. The thesis of this dissertation is that essential administrative tasks in churches of 150 and under can be identified, prioritized and evaluated.  A focus group of pastors identified twenty-five essential administrative tasks.  A survey instrument was designed and sent to 460 churches of 150 and under.  Approximately 133 pastors and 68 lay leaders responded to the survey and submitted data which was tabulated utilizing computer statistical analysis. Administrative strengths and weaknesses were identified. Utilizing guidelines of clear, shared vision for ministry developed for this project, judicatory officials recommended target churches for participation.  Leadership from each congregation completed three research instruments. Results were used to establish a positive correlation between vision for ministry and the presence of higher morale, a future orientation and a higher level of concern for those outside the local church. The author analyzes its rapid growth, its effect on local churches and its successes in reaching its target group of the formerly churched.  Research includes a telephone survey compared to a survey 32 months earlier and interviews of pastors of the most affected churches. Research finds that the growth was impacted by the pastor's charisma and that 85.3 percent of the growth was transfer with less than 15 percent coming from the target group. This was a cooperative effort in attempt to locate any particular people groups not currently reached by the participating congregations. Through official census material accessed by computer and survey questionnaires of church households vital demographic variables or 'factors that divide' were examined in both the community and the congregations. Each congregation was able to examine their own uniqueness in comparison to the other congregations and in comparison to the community profile. Contextual and institutional factors are compared in the two groups of churches.  Chi-square and t-tests suggest twenty-two significant differences between growing and declining churches.
