The project includes the recruitment of the core group and their academic training via workshop, reading, and five evening training sessions with presentations by persons gifted in evangelization.  It also includes their spiritual formation through a quiet day, worship, contemplation, and reflection upon study, and limited field experience in selected ministries of evangelization.  The project provides opportunities for prayer and reflection upon this part of the mission of the church to more effectively proclaim the gospel in word and deed. Drawing upon this experience, the core group engages in the training of others for this ministry. In many local churches the concept of lay ministry does not include participation in the area of evangelism.  It is the author's belief that the ministry of evangelism is best achieved when a local church's outreach is shared by laypersons and pastors.  The main objectives of this project are to develop and lead a workshop which will enable church members to participate in the evangelistic ministry of the local church.
