By interviewing a sample of 33 Vietnamese Christians, the project discovered that Vietnamese immigrants are often not devoted to their former religions. Crises, conviction that Christ is God, anticipation that God can meet one's felt needs, and parents' approval are important factors influencing conversion. Distinctions between rural and urban locales and ages and occupations of respondents most noticeably affected these perceptions, while congregational size and sex of respondents made little difference. Significant difference of viewpoint emerge, reinforcing the importance of character and relationally based ministry for pastors. The study examines perceptions of 15 adults who participated in a 10-week course utilizing two spiritual disciplines, meditation and journal keeping, and describes the perceptions and feelings of a core group of participants toward two spiritual disciplines and their influence on perceptions of spiritual growth, using a qualitative paradigm and an experimental study.  Based on a standardized, open-ended interview guide the project conducts pre-test and post-test interviews and written assignments. The project analyzes seven areas of belief and practice in relation to demographic categories.  Relevant characteristics include practice of spiritual disciplines, regular responsibility in the church, contentment with church, a sense of psychological well-being, age, membership status, income level, and length of time attending the church. The fellowship is made up of seven congregations and two faith ministries.  In this case study, 23 people who participate in MLEF activities are asked their perceptions of the relationship.  In their consensus, strong unity and cooperation exist among these congregations.  Such unity and cooperation had to have a common theological base and a strong relational foundation. Congregations need to see themselves as complimentary and not competitive.
