The project conducts eight clinical studies of group members, with individual followup interviews, measuring relational fitness by four variables: management of primary relationships; management of workplace relationships; involvement in community organizations; and management of critical incidents in the public community. It moves toward an integration of object-relations theory, the metaphysical philosophy of A N Whitehead, and theologian Paul Tillich's concept of God's grace as acceptance in spite of human unacceptability. These are woven together to propose that the answer to human becoming is a theological one. She presents herself as in desperate need of affirmation.  The woman feels that she is not in control of her life and is a failure in both her profession and her marriage.  The author uses object relations mode of therapy to treat the woman.  He integrates this approach with theological aspects which are suggested by Paul Tillich's writings.  The client's husband joins her in therapy.  This addition contributes to the building of a satisfying marital relationship.
