Based upon the premise that the life of a congregation flows from the center point of worship, this thesis examines what impact an inclusive model for worship, including preaching, has on a congregation with a desire to be more totally inclusive. Although traditional diversity, such as multiculturalism, is a part of this inclusivity, it goes beyond that definition to encompass as many voices of congregants as possible. the impact of the basic premise is examined in light of the project experience, as well as supporting theologies, and homiletic trends. Secondarily, the study provides a survey of needs for establishing a training center for laity involved in ministry. Seven parishes and 106 clergy participated in the study.  Surveys were distributed during homily time at a Sunday liturgy in the seven parishes.  A discussion was held afterwards to help interpret the results.  Another survey, similar to the one distributed to the laity, was mailed to the active parish clergy.  The study indicated a positive attitude toward lay ministry among laity and clergy.  Theologically, the laity viewed lay ministry primarily as sharing in the priest's ministry.  The clergy indicated a concern about certain canonical issues and a distinction of roles.  Both groups saw a need for education and formation in lay ministry. The thesis of this paper is twofold: 1) that a trained and working pastoral relations committee in a congregationally governed local church can be effective in resolving conflict between a congregation and pastor; 2) that judicatory personnel can be third-party consultants who train and work with the pastoral relations committee in collaborative intervention. The study brings together the disciplines of theology, history and applied social sciences to analyze and propose appropriate interventions into conflict.  It recognizes the particular context of a Baptist congregation and the polity of its denomination. It also tests the use of instrumentations (the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Blake-Mouton Managerial Grid and a Money Behavior Inventory) in the collection and use of data from 10 pastors and 100 laity.  The paper includes sections on stewardship theology, leadership theory, research methodology, and data analysis.
