The project uses information obtained from an extensive review of the literature on adult education and the Baptist deacon. It examines such skills as leadership, group management, conflict management, and church family ministry needs.  The material first is presented pedagogically.  An andragogical section follows which presents practical uses of the material.  Some positive results are obtained. The project was researched with a local church board of administration consisting of nine men.  There  were two facets of the project.  An educational emphasis employed twelve school of ministry sessions.  The experiential impact was highlighted by ten ministry reports from the board members.  Some of the results included a greater awareness that all Christians are ministers; an increased understanding of and involvement in ministry. Lectures, seminars, books, interviews and experience have confirmed that the shepherding ministry can revitalize a congregation and transform the lives of people when pastor and people work together to develop and implement a ministry peculiar to their local needs and circumstances. There must be 'ownership' of the ministry before it can be effective.  The motivation for ministry must derive from a vital relationship with Jesus Christ and genuine love for people.
