The method of identifying these elements is through a study of the populace with emphasis upon their spirituality, theological concepts and commitment. The methodology employed is an interplay between process theology and structured family systems theory. Intervention into the church family system relied upon the primary use of differing forms of paradox and not stating or identifying a diagnosis. This educational effort combined the shared praxis approach of Thomas H Groome with a congregational outreach to Mexico to broaden the congregation's understanding of mission.  The project participants were the Wednesday evening group and the men of the work team.  Through a series of Bible studies, selected pericopes that concentrate on God's grace impacting the world were presented.  The congregation was challenged to critically reflect and make decisions based on the Scriptures. It relates compact CPE to a rite of passage ritual, particularly the second phase known as 'communitas.'  It compacts 400 hours of training into 27 days, as students learn pastoral care by doing it under supervision.  They develop their pastoral identity and style and become aware of how their ministry affects the recipients thereof.  The questions addressed in this study are: Is this process communitas, a ritual?  Does it enhance learning?
