Pastors and laity review liturgy from the historical bulletins of their own congregations. They are supported in the formation of new skills in the creation of liturgy. Believers come to recognize connections between periods of history, shared emotions and their participation in the biblical narrative. This supports the formation of further materials for teaching and reflection which import the significance of international conflict on the way they worship and their expectations.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Columbia Theological Seminary
b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
work_editor","public
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
b7ee17f0-d379-4b9e-ad7a-7a8006087eb9
24b94521-b1bd-4e18-8418-0b3ab581ae72
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
The effects of teaching a Christian view of aging and a life review on 'retired' individuals in the local congregation
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
f4b9cb5f-5d54-444f-b8f0-6e82e5761322
01adf783-f412-40a3-a5a0-4c65eaf44a9e
1
1
Atla RIM
Unknown
Columbia Theological Seminary
Ronald Crossley
1993
Unknown
Text
Ralph J Aker
Columbia Theological Seminary
Church work with older people","Aging--Religious aspects--Christianity","Retirement
English
The purpose of this dissertation was to produce a model for doing life review and teaching a Christian view of aging in a Presbyterian congregation. The research begins with an examination of nature of retirement in the church and society and how that has brought about the 'rise and fall' of the theory of disengagement. The remedy presented is for ministry with and for the aging to be grounded in the Christian view of aging. Aging is then examined in Christian perspectives, through an examination of aging in the Bible, Christian theological tradition, and contemporary society. Chapter 4 reports the act of ministry itself, a life-review process & ten class sessions to be used by a pastor to nurture & equip aging individuals & groups to remain engaged in the worship and work of the church. Chapter 5 is appraisal of the act based upon the responses of two persons who participated in the act of ministry, interpretation of data collected, & an appraisal in retrospect & prospect. The burden of this study is that something fundamental is lost or obscured if persons of all ages are not actively involved in the worship & work of the church.
https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing
deposited
Columbia Theological Seminary
b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859
open
Metadata Only
rim.ir.atla.com
Etd
public","work_editor
admin
ckarpinski@atla.com
["Etd
ecafcd68-8c0a-478c-bd4b-a8de35500159
62fc54f7-609f-4d71-81a5-b01d5d65aea8
ckarpinski@atla.com
ckarpinski@atla.com
Toward diversity in the local church
["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8
da275b0b-9fe7-4150-9282-e9fdb36303f7
a6f2b7f5-1148-4e4e-b33d-12047c8b6975
1
1
Atla RIM
Unknown
Columbia Theological Seminary
Robert Ramey
1993
Unknown
Text
John M Brownlee
Columbia Theological Seminary
Community--Religious aspects","Church--Unity
English
The central argument of this dissertation is that the church is called by God to be inclusive and that call is especially important in our heterogeneous society in which people are divided by their differences. A case is made both for racial and social diversity and for a diversity of theological and ideological perspectives in the local church.
