The assumption of this study was that a significant need and opportunity exists for the church in ministering to the young African American male demographic. This study focused on six pastors who are working with a significant number of young African American males in urban contexts. This study was a qualitative study which gathered information through the use of interviews. The literature was divided regarding the matter of pastoral leadership. Some literature advocated strong leadership and other literature argued for shared leadership between the pastor and church officers.
