The review of literature and analysis of interviews with church planters focused on three key areas of planting churches that affect pastors: the church planter as a man, the church planter's message, and the church planter's mission. In the area of the church planter as a man, the findings revealed that the church planter must be biblically qualified and spiritually gifted. In the area of the church planter's message, the findings demonstrated that the church planter must preach the gospel from all of scripture. In the area of the church planter's mission, the study determined that the church planter must join the mission of God by incarnating the gospel in culturally understandable ways. These healthy connections result in leaders growing and learning even as they lead in the most challenging contexts. The study attempted to discover the impact or effects of such an experience--solely from the vantage point or perspective of the pastor. As such this study was intended to be an impact study and the research methodology qualitative in nature. Together, the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this study revealed that Concordia is a strong academic institution that effectively imparts theological knowledge that is foundational for pastoral ministry, and that it successfully teaches its students to think theologically. The author, using a qualitative approach to his research, focuses on examining the effects of stress and burnout in the pastorate by concentrating in the areas of the pastor, the pastor's family, and the pastor's congregation. With some 1500 pastors leaving the ministry each month, the findings of this research reveals the majority of pastors understand their stress levels to be increased but very few are doing anything preventative. This is also a study in encouraging possible future planting pastors and lay people who are struggling with reluctance whether to leave the safety of a mother church and listen for the call to be part of a birthed daughter church. The purpose of this study is to examine how mother churches overcome their reluctance in planting daughter churches in the suburban context. My research questions that will guide me will be: 1. What are the characteristics of the reluctance on the part of a mother church in planting a daughter church? 2. How were those issues addressed in those churches? 3. This study was conducted to determine the affect, if any, of church participation on the quality of and satisfaction in marriage. Six couples who take an active part in church activities were interviewed and the results of their experiences were studied. These results showed a positive influence of their church activity on their respective marriages. Several of the reasons found for this positive feeling were hope and support, giving of oneself, friends and social engagements, and an overall good attitude toward marriage and life in general.
