The researcher used a survey instrument to gather data for this summative evaluation.  The majority (70.2%) agreed that SWIM prepared them for ministry life.  Wives who felt best prepared were older, married longer, had older children, and/or participated in several SWIM programs. Churches were selected at random from the Association of Christian Schools International and the Georgia Association of Christian Schools.  Churches selected differed geographically, denominationally, and were of varying sizes.  The data collected was compared with standard church growth principles and literature to determine the barriers to church growth experienced by these ministries. The author surveyed pertinent literature for critical interpretive questions and found his hypothesis to be correct.  Using a grounded theory inductive research design, he built an interpretive model consisting of eleven steps utilizing twenty-three questions. The researcher invited six Chinese-speaking pastors of different ages, genders, languages, and church sizes to cassette-tape three sermons before and another three after the teaching seminar.  The sermons were evaluated according the list of essential elements designed for this project. Its method is to evaluate through questionnaire and personal interview eight individual members of an Amish religious group. The literature review includes research in religious, denominational, child psychology, and child rearing publications. There is also an extended treatment of the Scriptural record. The ChurchSmart Resources' questionnaire for the pastor and thirty questionnaires for the lay people were utilized.  The eight factors of a healthy church were derived from Christian Schwartz's 'Natural Church Development.'  Seventy-nine interviewees participated between May 22 and September 12, 2000.  An optional ChurchSmart Resources 'Releasing Your Church's Potential' seminars were also facilitated. The eight respondent churches were asked to form an implementation team to execute the recommendations by the ChurchSmart Resources personnel and the researcher. The survey was verified by a group of ministry leaders and then administered to the leadership team of Joy Community Fellowship.  A second survey was given to a cross-section of the congregation.  The Ministry Influence survey showed where the leadership team of Joy needed to spend their time, energy, and finances to have the most impact and influence for Christ. First Baptist Church of Warsaw, IN developed a Diagnostic Test to diagnose specific needs.  Using this information the church developed a two-year program, evaluated it with a follow-up questionnaire, verifying the program had met specific needs. It demonstrated a need for training and increased quality of performance in Christian education in Latin America.  Responding to an apparent lack of training, it evaluated and determined curriculum needs for a Master of Arts in Christian Education (MA/CE) degree at CATS.  Needs assessment instruments were used to determine key needs.  These evaluated current practice and identified ways to improve performance effectiveness.
