The purpose of this project, conducted with members of Grace Fellowship Church in Timonium, Maryland, was to determine the effectiveness of a 'SHAPE' workshop and follow-up to increase participants' motivation leading to service. A biblical blueprint for spiritual gifts from Ephesians 4 was studied as well as the functional approach to motivation. The project began with a questionnaire concerning spiritual gifts and one's purpose in the church. Next, a three part sermon series on spiritual gifts was used to educate and inspire members to participate in the seminar. During the seminar, students took inventories to discover their spiritual gifts, passions, personality, and temperament types and completed a ministry resume form. The project measured the effectiveness of a potential solution.  The researcher designed and assessed a three-month procedure for training six lay 'ministry consultants' to be prepared to guide adult members of Faith Baptist Church through a course that teaches a process for identifying ministry niches that employ their spiritual resources.  Evaluation took place through a postseminar, objective examination, observation studies, and tape-recorded interviews.
