God commands believers to engage his word, and through obedience to his command, members have the opportunity for spiritual change.  Scripture records both reading and/or listening as two mediums for engagement.  The administrator of this project directed memebrs to engage Scripture through an aural medium .  Listening and reflection templates along with five assessments provided measurable evaluations. This project was an attempt to help believers implement practices that would help them become more like Jesus.  Through the support, encouragement, and accountability that came through a small group environment, participants learned how to practice historical spiritual spiritual disciplines, identify those they believed would be most helpful for their Christian growth, and developed a plan to incorporate these into their lives. To help planters in the Dakota Baptist Convention, a discipleship relationship has been designed to encourage their continuing spiritual formation.  Working with a more experienced disciple, the spiritual disciplines of contemplative prayer, Lectio Divina, and solitude and silence form the project's focus. A God-centeredness curriculum was designed and implemented in a local church context. The project involved a select group in a deepening process of self-exploration, meditation on God's Word, and contemplative commitment to God's way. The focus was on the heart of the believer because I am convinced that leadership development and committed participation are intimately linked with proper, effective spiritual formation. To prepare for the project, I researched appropriate literature, and established a core group of believers who were willing to participate. Twenty-two believers initially participated in the first workshop, and most continued through the seven-week project. The methods employed multi-sensory learning techniques in the context of spiritual disciplines. The project measured affective changes in participants based on new spiritual discipline practices.
