It is recommended that preachers make five strategic shifts: from performance to participation, from authoritarian to authentic, from isolated to integrated, from verbal to visual, and from stabilization to subversion. In this context, juxtaposition is an intentional tool for developing textual interpretations. Placing incongruent biblical texts alongside current events, juxtaposing biblical readings, etc. can result in new insights. Using the case study of a local church in an identity crisis and its gay ministers, this project utilizes interviews, sermons, small group discussions, conversations with church members, and surveys to formulate a lesbian and gay homiletic.
