The process of reflective, constructive critique is based on the concept of theopraxis via John Douglas Hall.  The study sessions seek to discern mid-range  principles and engage the participants in a both a self-reflective process and personal vision building process.  The goal is to enhance the participant's identity as a child of God and his or her role in God's economy. Using examples of conflict this theory is applied to parish life, addressing certain phenomena in the contemporary church such as resistance to change and group thinking, particularly as it is manifested in conflict between pastors and parishioners.  The theory is also used interactively with family systems theory and applied to aspects of ministry within the larger church.
