This results in lack of a loving relationship among her members.  The above phenomenon of DPC, the lack of a loving relationship or concern for one another is reflected in the fact that small group team ministry does not thrive in DPC.  Ideally, small group ministry would flourish and would lead to spiritual growth and revitalization at DPC.  The DPC would then be able to regain the shape of a loving community.  When spiritual growth occurs that comes from team ministry centered on thriving small groups, DPC can be revitalized to become a dynamic church with motivation for missions and service. Stumbling blocks in the way of growth include ignorance of the current state of DPC and a lack of vision concerning for the future of DPC, as well as resistance to change on the part of members.  Theological, biblical, historical, and cultural bases of small group ministry are examined in this study, as well as the positive and negative aspects of identity among Korean immigrants.  The study suggests ways to bring about change. Others are previously unchurched or 'General Protestant' and thus do not have a Presbyterian/Reformed understanding of the Biblical story (Biblical awareness).  Many had limited time to devote to learning, and the adult education offerings were limited in scope.  In this time of declining Biblical awareness, the goal was to help individuals learn that they are connected to the Biblical witness and need to see their lives as Christians committed to the community of faith with other faithful people.  To help them, this project used education, learning, and dialogue as the basic strategies, but other approaches ('strategic planning' and 're-framing') were utilized. The interventions were to have laity in the congregation design an overall program of Biblical awareness, help persons become grounded in the Biblical faith and see themselves as connected to that faith.  The approaches were initiated with classes, home-studies, creative experiences, and worship opportunities.  It was the aim of these interventions to help move individuals and the congregation to greater depth as Christians. Standard church renewal efforts have not moved the congregation from a numerical and financial plateau.  This study describes how standard Presbyterian polity processes failed to provide for an open and honest dialogue with the congregation which can develop shared vision.  This study describes how the processes of self-assessment and education worked to produce shared vision. Applying principles of systems theory, a presbytery committee coached church leaders who met together monthly.  The leaders experienced and learned to lead a process which included assessing their church's uniqueness; discerning God's call to them; choosing the best place to begin.  Each church has begun an on-going process by which the energy of members can be mobilized and focused.
