In dialogical worship the individual encounters God and one's neighbor and shares his or her being with God and ones neighbor. When this worship occurs, the encounter becomes 'the communion of the saints'.  The  thesis is affirmed by examining worship from phenomenological, biblical, historical and theological points of view.  The study examines a particular congregation in which special attention was paid to what phenomenologists call the 'dialogical region'. Education as merely transmitting information does not shape hearts or transform behavior.  The way to change the theological understanding of the congregation is not by teaching a class, but rather, by changing the practices of the congregation.  Communal practices shape belief. We enter the church through baptism. A one-day event was offered to clergy stressing that with divine providence honor and shame can mobilize persons in conflict to healthy resolution rather than destructive separation.
