This dissertation examines current literature on Christian corporate worship as well as literature describing current cultural characteristics in the United States.  A six-week series of worship services was conducted incorporating the results of the study.  The services are then evaluated to determine if they have been culturally sensitive and ministry-effective. Implications of this research are suggested as they relate to the following questions: are 'latch-key' children an at-risk population in the United States?  If so, what are the factors that mitigate or have led to the phenomena?  Are they any programs that address the needs of 'latch-key' children? Should the church have a response to the phenomena?  It is argued that these and other questions need to be addressed if intervention is to take place. After surveying the perceived spiritual formation needs of students in one seminary, four teaching/learning activities were designed and implemented.  Although the whole project was carried out within a period of only eight weeks, there was a favorable response to the learning experiences and some progress in the use of spiritual disciplines was revealed. Posttest results indicate the lessons had the desired results. An instrument of evaluation consisting of interviews with principals and questionnaires of students and alumni was prepared and administered. The findings were analyzed.  It was observed that since institutional integration was not possible, nor advisable, the best way to cooperate and share resources would be to suggest degree program integration. This would assist to integrate knowledge, experience, and practical skills in a balanced way. It observes that problems arise in both doctrine and practice since the polity of the Church of God is congregational and autonomous, and nonecclesiastical government a vital aspect of the Church of God heritage.
