One hundred nineteen medium-size congregations of the Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God were studied with concentration given to the auxiliaries reported by those congregations.  The hypothesis was based upon the concept of a unified mission.  Implementation was guided by the belief that multiple functioning and giving auxiliaries affected positively world ministries giving.  The project failed to establish such a positive relationship due to disparities even among churches reporting the same number of auxiliaries. This meant providing tools to assist people to envision the nature and function of the church and then to formulate a plan to assist believers in increased participation in the ministry of the church in the power of the Holy Spirit. Twenty-eight members attended the two-day training session. The result was that participants recognized the need and committed to more personal involvement in ministry. Two sample small groups were used for the ten-week project: a pilot group and a parallel group.  The pilot group consisted of seven members who were secured through private invitation. The parallel group's involvement was limited to taking the same pretest and posttest as the pilot group. The plan included: identifying personal problems among attenders through an initial churchwide survey; addressing the problems in six sermons; evaluating the success of the attempt to address the problems by means of a weekly written survey, a sermon discussion group, and a second churchwide survey.  A slight improvement in addressing problems through sermons was made. More improvement was noted in relevance than in effectiveness. The practical aspects of this project began with a presentation of case histories. An analysis of these cases revealed that these patients' histories contained eight 'pain themes.'  The spiritual care checklists (an instrument) used as a counseling tool with the pain patients were compared with those used with a control group of medical/surgical patients. Efforts were made to move that staff from the mentality of record keeping into the concept of information management.  The procedures for this action research involved examination of hardware and software, determination of appropriate system components, participant familiarization, an individual post-questionnaire for each software program and for the package, and a post personal or telephone structured interview. Evaluation was on three levels: participants' general impressions about overall effectiveness of computerization and their ability to function within the system; numerical averages of the individual questions in the questionnaire; and, suggestions of changes to improve system efficiency or effectiveness. While most stress management procedures were developed by medical professionals, the spiritual aspect of healing has not been fully explored or addressed.  The church has an opportunity to incorporate spiritual resources in the process of dealing with the stresses of modern life.  Exploring, formulating and implementing a biblically based stress management procedure was the heart of this project. A descriptive inventory was administered in the spring of 1991 to all the senior pastors of the 181 churches in the Minnesota District of the Assemblies of God.  The resultant data were analyzed for frequency distribution for all variables, and correlations were computed for all independent variables with each dependent variable.
