The project focused on immigrants who had become related to The International Church of the Metroplex (TICOM).  Separate practicum discussion groups of immigrants and Americans and a random survey indicated that even though they had had negative experiences, especially of rejection from white churches, the immigrants had kept their Christian faith intact.  The practicum also revealed that it was a lack of contact and interaction between the Americans and the Third World immigrants which was responsible for  their fear and mistrust of one another. The project centers around the Church as symbol.  The central question is addressed in a practicum which consists of seven two-hour sessions that use the five movements of shared praxis and in thirteen faith development interviews before and after the practicum.  The interviews are conducted according to James Fowler's short interview form.  The data reveals that there is no faith development change when this model is used. The objective of the leader was to offer a program of ministry to single adults in which the participants could explore themselves and their condition of singlehood and could experience personal growth, wholeness, and creativity.  The group met eight times for two hours.  Each session was devoted to examining and reflecting theologically on a specific topic related to singlehood. The central focus is a workshop methodology which is progressive in design, content, and format, and is based on principles of androgogy.  The workshops give: 1) an experience of shared Christian praxis by using the theme 'coming to know God'; 2) a knowledge, practical understanding and an opportunity to use shared Christian praxis; 3) a demonstration of how the Sadlier Religion Program uses shared Christian praxis as a teaching-learning process in the K-8 curriculum; 4) a redefinition of shared Christian praxis which enables classroom religion teachers to use the process effectively. The workshops are designed to educate religion teachers in Catholic school religion programs and in parishes. The need was addressed through Bible study, fellowship, six evangelistic worship and preaching services, congregational response and evaluation, the response of a working committee of six persons, evaluation and critical reflection with the preacher.  The content of the messages preached emphasized the non-negotiable essentials of the Christian message as the kerygma for the context.  The thesis of the project was that kerygmatic preaching plays a central role in the local church's ministry of leading people to the experiential relationship with God in Christ by the Holy Spirit. The men's responses, decisions and demands for such preaching on Sunday morning showed the necessity for such preaching. Data was obtained through classroom experiences, interviews with married couples, participation in weekend programs for engaged couples, marriage enrichment weekends, seminars for those entering second marriages, and working in the Office of Marriage and Family Ministry for the Diocese of Kalamazoo evaluating their present programs and developing structures for future programs. The six genres I considered were: saga, law, history, wisdom, prophets, and short-story. Drawing upon a biblical perspective, this essay will examine implications for ministry to families experiencing separation and reunion. Hoping and waiting are biblical themes which suggest that separated families experience varying degrees of suffering. The student worked with an eight member lay committee over a period of five months studying such terminology as prophetic, affirmation, confrontation, and hermeneutic; studying the scriptural texts the student had chosen upon which to base his sermons; preaching four sermons in his local church; and meeting with the lay committee following the delivery of each sermon for response/feedback.  The student concluded that preaching, the intent of which is Christian proclamation, is Bible centered.  The student also concluded that all preaching should include both dimensions of 'the prophetic element in preaching,' which are affirmation and confrontation.
