The hypothesis was that through the creation of a four-part workshop focusing on better understanding the challenges of starting a family, family of origin issues, solution focused theory, and the rewriting of marriage vows, the couples would better handle the transition stress. The hypothesis was proven correct. The project was designed to teach parents some basic principles of Christian nurture, from a Wesleyan, theological perspective, informed by developmental theory. The child-rearing motifs of John Wesley were taught within the structural-developmental framework of James W Fowler's faith development theory, to inform parents of some of the theological and psychological factors necessary for a more informed nurture of Christian faith in their children. The project was carried out through a series of seminars conducted at the First Church of the Nazarene in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
