The project sought through pastoral care, demonstrated in an intentional small group process, to promote theological reflection about meaningful living. The desired effect was to know the fact of one's death to be an impetus for life. This report outlines theological and psychological bases for the concept of anticipatory grief. Methodology entailed determination of issues the participants wanted addressed as well as delineation of the mechanics of the phenomenon of anticipatory grief. The project showed a positive correlation between a constructive sense of anticipatory grief and a sense of meaning for life. The purpose is to develop more precision in understanding the mission of the church and to provide a more systematic approach for accomplishing the mission founded upon the commissioning statements of our Lord, 'Go' and 'Follow me'. An extensive training program for the development of the elders was established covering the areas of being called, history, teaching, flocking, prayer, creative listening, leadership, and gifts and talents. The foundation undergirding this study was learning responsibility and accountability. Of the eleven pre-treatment respondents, nine were stage 2 and two were stage 3. Of the 60 with at least one year sobriety who responded, twenty-eight were at stage 3, fifteen were at stage 4, and fourteen were at stage 5. This study suggests that faith stage changes occur as chemically dependent people gain and maintain sobriety."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718055615397888,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:28:06.413Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:45:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:38:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d03ea7f6-842c-4828-add9-9d7f133ca8b1","accessControl_ssim":["67cf6af5-6bfd-450a-8d96-fa135a795a9f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing biblical literacy in the local congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:45:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:05:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9aff732d-1e8c-4491-8ccb-12ff1bdfd464"],"hasLease_ssim":["4a2f4fa8-8d96-4278-9c78-c8ff8ea3ef1a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Harold E Hatt"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jim Sutherlin"],"keyword_tesim":["Tests and measurements in religion"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Study","Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Bible. A course of study of the Gospel of Matthew was prepared and taught to members of a local congregation to test the validity of the hypothesis.
