John Wesley and his theology of the Holy Spirit was instrumental in developing the Methodist movement and offers assistance to churches today.  By emulating Wesley's use of sermons, leadership training and study groups, the author has applied Wesley's lessons and theology to a small church preparing to adapt to ministry as a mid-size church. Particularly the word 'shalom' was used and related within the congregation that struggled with the issue of whether or not to remain in the near-urban area of a medium-sized city, or to relocate to an area in the same part of the city, but two miles away to gain room for growth. Through a series of remembering sessions with the congregation, stories, and memories were gathered.  From these stories and memories four factors of growth and three factors of decline were identified.
