The paper gives a rational for and describes the steps taken to develop five small groups in the congregation which are called missional covenant groups.  Covenant groups consist of approximately eight to ten people of various ages and life experiences from the community and the congregation.  Covenant groups seek to fulfill the church's mission of transforming people's lives through Jesus Christ. Research focused on male spirituality and small group dynamics.  Scriptures that emphasized spiritual relationships, spiritual growth, and spiritual commitment directed the group and helped strengthen relationships with God and each other.  Discussion questions and a closing exercise for each meeting are included in the paper.
