This project attempts to prepare a congregation for times of crisis and suffering by means of a ministry of preaching, teaching, and celebration of Christ's presence in the Lord's Supper. A step-by-step description of how a Presbyterian pastor in a suburban Cleveland, Ohio, church led his congregation to offer such a ministry is provided.  Exegesis and interpretation of the vision of the last Judgment of Matthew 25:31-46 supports the ministry.  Results are evaluated in terms of the stated goals of the ministry and in terms of theological understandings. A research questionnaire that rated attitudes toward evangelism was developed for church members before and after the material was used.  The thesis was that attitudes toward evangelism would increase positively after the material's use and that results would differ as a function of the church's location.  Age, sex, length of membership, and holding of office were biographic evaluations of the data.  Only one church administered the posttest. The model introduced traditional Christian ideas of faith, grace, hope, mercy and salvation into the critical issues faced by these young adults.  This model permitted the sermon to address the tensions involved in the interactive forces and elements faced by these young adults.  This preaching model addresses contemporary issues biblically to enable young adults to hear the call to commit their lives to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  A sample group in the age range 30-35 heard four sermons developed and preached by the author.  Each participant filled out a questionnaire after the sermon to measure their responses to the critical issues and Christian themes raised in the model. The process focuses on building trusting and trustable relationships among adult leaders and youth participants in which the Christian faith becomes a lived experience.  The student curriculum relates input from their life contexts to the biblical story.  The biblical text, in broad overview, is presented to the young people using various media, including plays, role plays, video and audio presentations. Aggressively taking advantage of the privilege of being invited into people's homes and lives, the author explored Scripture, tradition, and church history to understand the importance of pastoral visitation.  Questionnaires were sent to pastors and clerks of session on Long Island to understand their involvement in various areas of pastoral ministry.  Nine months were spent in visitation with emphasis on twenty-five individuals or families.  Some of these people were later interviewed to see if they valued the visits.
