The author used narrative process to design and teach a course on interfaith dialogue. Narrative process helped students enter a dialogue that moved beyond the theoretical, to include the experience of 'lived' faith. The author's journal, students' responses to surveys, and a comparison of writing samples led the author to conclude that narrative process is very effective in creating dialogue that deepens personal commitment, encourages self-reflection, and creates the spaces for respectful exchange of differing religious beliefs and worldviews."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127762946228224,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:04.924Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:29:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"043727e7-311f-438d-be6f-431bbb6a87ce","accessControl_ssim":["496cda13-fb9e-4ffc-ad78-0f3aabfcf9c7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Tending the flame of feminine holiness: women of Christ in community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:14:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["425afce2-9462-4010-b0f8-ee35c09f7e37"],"hasLease_ssim":["6dedfbc2-0952-44b0-864c-1fd5946b0989"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Byron H Jackson"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Demetra Velisarios Jaquet"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Deaconesses","Women in church work","Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network","Women, Orthodox Eastern"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Orthodox Christian women minister amidst tensions between two mysteries of theological anthropology: one shared nature as humankind, yet distinctiveness as gender female. These hymns intentionally highlight primary themes of the catechism. This corpus of hymns also reflects the importance of matching hymn and song texts with music that is singable by the majority of people."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720796325675008,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:11:40.158Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:21:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:32:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2280861f-92dd-4285-a905-3f02c30a299d","accessControl_ssim":["cd3bb124-7ed7-4141-ac4b-a130ac6e3a70"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Learning the grammar of an ecumenical faith: adult education and the formation of conciliar identity in the local congregation of the United Church of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:21:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:09:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bbea05b8-0375-408e-a2ed-0a7f8fdfba23"],"hasLease_ssim":["81d4c543-069b-4650-9d01-ba297af5cb48"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott W Sunquist","Charles E Hambrick-Stowe"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Albert J Walsh"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Ecumenical movement","History","Conciliar theory","United Church of Christ--Doctrines","United Church of Christ"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The essential characteristic of both individual and corporate identity in the United Church of Christ is to be determined by its ecumenical mandate and is therefore conciliar in nature. Conciliar identity is to be developed in the local setting of the church. The author researched the historical formation of the United Church of Christ and the historical development of the ecumenical movement in order to assess the relationship between the two, to demonstrate the convergences evident in their unfolding histories, and to gather sources said to be intrinsic to the development of conciliar identity at the local level. Both the historical traditions of the United Church of Christ and the ecumenical movement provided resources for the development of an educational program intended to initiate the process of conciliar identity formation. The program was taught over a period of eight weeks, with nine participants and contributing presentations made by representatives of confessions other than those associated with the United Church of Christ. In conclusion, the author determined the necessity for the course to be extended. While participants could define the essential characteristics of conciliar identity with limited effectiveness, there was evident promise of further enrichment of that identity, together with associated practices."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126737075044352,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:32:46.577Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:20:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:42:30Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a7ad63ee-2ec2-4b91-9a5f-ae91a6e5afc0","accessControl_ssim":["f27725a8-a8df-453d-9817-5eb33ec8feb3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Dynamic prayer as the catalyst for God to move the Clinton United Presbyterian Church from maintenance to revitalization"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:20:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:59:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["dd4a19a6-69f7-448e-82fa-48e70687903e"],"hasLease_ssim":["44680b94-3c34-4a6f-8362-de450f7021d5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["N Graham Standish"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John V Callahan"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Faith development","Clinton United Presbyterian Church (Saxonburg, Pa)","Prayer groups","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis is that dynamic prayer can be the catalyst for God to move the Clinton United Presbyterian Church from maintenance to revitalization. The author researched dynamic prayer in a group in which participants prayed daily for three months for God to reveal God's will for Clinton Church's ministries. The author used participants' surveys and recorded experiences to evaluate God's work and spiritual growth through prayer. The conclusion was that spiritual growth resulted in six individuals who became closer to God through dynamic prayer and gained a clearer understanding of ministry in their church.
