Chapter 1 presents the problem and states the goals as the solution to the problem. Chapter 2 addresses the biblical rationale for enhancing inter-church Christian fellowship. Chapter 3 shows the credence given to the rationale of the project through the sociological environment, the corporate world, and society in general, for example, the growing place of women in the professional business and public life and the growing importance of the issue in ecumenical relationships, school life, and workplace experiences. In Chapter 4, the focus is the actual procedures of the research project. This chapter encompasses the step-by-step procedure. Chapter 1 outlines the purpose and goals of the project and gives one a sense of the history and setting of Cave City Baptist Church. A brief summary of the value of church marketing and definitions are included. Chapter 2 begins with a brief survey of the state of the church in North America, but is primarily devoted to providing a strong biblical defense of some church marketing concepts. Included is application of how churches can contextualize these concepts in their fields. Chapter 3 gives the reader a summary of the rural state of the church today. Then it provides a rather comprehensive analysis of modern marketing terms, methods, strategies and also examples of how some churches, both rural and urban, have succeeded in growth using missiological church marketing. Chapter 4 gives a step-by-step description of the project as it was executed during the summer of 2002. Some evaluation is included. Chapter 5 provides a more thorough evaluation and and analysis of the project results with some personal observations. This work contends that although these is some danger in blindly applying concepts of church marketing without biblical foresight, there are some church marketing principles which can be defended from the scriptures and used to expand the kingdom of God. The project methodology is examined alongside those principles found and then implemented accordingly. Chapter 3 continues to look at expository preaching and evangelism, but does so from a sociological and psychological viewpoint. The goal is to identify challenges facing the church so that an appropriate plan may be devised to overcome them. Chapter 4 details the process and method of the project. A series of expository sermons was presented while an ongoing evangelism training strategy was implemented. Utilizing cinematherapy in a Christian counseling setting may further the expression of feelings, beliefs, worldviews, and values by tapping into the narrative medium of popular culture which is familiar and non-threatening to children. Cinematherapy as a therapeutic intervention introduces another level of viewing that focuses on identification and connection with characters in the movie. Movies viewed with an intentional focus as assigned or prescribed in cinematherapy invite reflection, comparison, and analysis that can promote theological formation and psychological development. The power of narrative to shape and influence individuals is demonstrated through reviews of narrative theology and narrative therapy. Narrative serves as the connection between these fields and the newer concept of cinematherapy.
