It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author's purpose was to use creative stories (self-written and/or collected) to illustrate and illuminate the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12 so they might be more easily incorporated and retained in the lives of hearers.  Over a period of 13 weeks the author presented stories over each beatitude, using pre-tests and post-tests, to measure any changes on the participant that may have been a result of the story's influence.  One week after the story the author presented a sermon on the previous beatitude to help underscore the point of the story itself.  At the beginning and end of the project, spiritual growth assessment inventories were administered to determine any overall changes in attitude and action. This project led students to develop an understanding of a theology of the cross along with its practical implications for their personal lives and for their own ministry opportunities. Since theology is itself a dialogical discipline, a small group of students was enlisted to study together a theology of the cross as well as how they could apply a cruciform theology throughout the Baptist Student Ministry. This project lasted for one semester and attempted to include all of the students that were involved in the Baptist Student Ministry Program. The majority of the work, however, was completed by a smaller, select group of students. A larger group of students were asked to evaluate the testimonies, devotional materials, and sermons prepared by the select group. The project was conducted in three stages: the enlistment of potential leaders, the training of the leaders, and the enlistment of leaders and assignment of participants to specific Shepherd Groups. This is especially perplexing in light of the belief that when a person is born again, he or she receives the Holy Spirit and is thereby equipped and capable of fruitful Christian life.  Southern Baptists need not concede their biblical doctrine in order to explain and overcome this phenomenon.  While it is true that a person receives the Holy Spirit at the moment of conversion, some Southern Baptists fail to teach their converts how to recognize his work and how to relate to him as a person.  Hence, he is grieved, his work is quenched, and life in Christ become stagnant and unfruitful. This project will delve into the fruitlessness of inactive Christians and demonstrate how the major Christian disciplines are an outgrowth of the Holy Spirit's work in a believer's life. A seeker small group is a grouping of eight to twelve individuals who are searching for answers to spiritual questions.  The project is based on four biblical presuppositions.  The intent of the project is to assist the church in her evangelistic responsibility.  The project will encompass a mentoring process with two distinct phases: an intensive training and a supervision process.  This on-the-job training will provide beneficial reinforcement and feedback and enhance the group experience.
