No pastor in the area claims any significant results in reaching the two-thirds of the population that are unchurched. One contributing factor to this lack of success is the apparent reluctance of most churched people to invite their unchurched family, friends, and neighbors to come to church with them. The author examines the Diocese of Taita Taveta - geography, history and culture as well as the history of the Anglican Church and East African Revival. It presents church statistics from 1991-2000 and surveys three distinct groups of Anglicans: a- Anglicans (Waangilikana Damu), Irregular Anglicans (Waangilikana Jina) and Anglicans 'in diaspora'. Analysis indicates important pastoral factors to be addressed if growth is to be accelerated. Project presents theological reflection and pastoral response to the data.
