The goal of this study, which focused on the country of Portugal, was to discover how to make these transitions more viable. In order to achieve this, a qualitative methodology was designed which involved interviewing three individuals from each of five church plants who had observed such a transition over the previous five years. A devotional book was written to provide biblical reflections and an opportunity for personal prayer regarding specific stresses in the Jos context. Their work, however, has not yet had a great impact on the Muslim sector of the population.  This study attempts to find solutions to this problem.  It consists of two surveys.  The first shows the attitudes and practices of the churches concerning church planting.  The second gives counsel from Muslim ministry workers on how to get the job done. They can be combined with evangelism to form the outreach ministry of the church to its community.  Various Chinese churches in different countries have used this model of sharing the love and the gospel of Christ through evangelism and social services.  The focus of this project is the development of a community ministry plan for a Chinese church in Canada.  The author surveyed over a hundred and fifty Chinese churches in eastern Canada and conducted in-depth interviews with four of the churches with community ministry.  Furthermore, three community service organizations in Ottawa where the author's church is located were interviewed in order to better assess the needs of the community.  Based on the findings of the research, a plan is developed to implement community ministry. A threefold method, of personal interviews coupled with a survey, a time-line exercise, and interviews coupled with questionnaires, was used.  Printed church literature was consulted too.
