The author exegetes passages in the Bible which are relevant to the subject of the ancestor practices and from his exegesis constructs a theology which speaks to major issues faced by Chinese Christians today. Principles of the Kingdom of God form the basis of the study which points to the relevance of signs and wonders, especially healing, in the life of the church. It begins by outlining the theological basis for the study. The project then contrasts western and non-western worldviews, detailing some of the assumptions underlying each one, and comparing western worldview constructs with the mysticism of Java. Following an extended case study there are nineteen interactive reflective studies on specific themes related to spiritual conflicts. Missionaries and missionary candidates evaluated the interactive studies.
