A ten part sermon series was developed and delivered on the following disciplines: inner life, prayer, confession, reading and journaling, Bible study, meditation, devotional life, fasting, personal worship, and ministry. Sermons were reinforced through distribution of outlines and worksheets as well as through the encouragement of additional reading. Comparison of before and after surveys revealed substantial improvement in the practice of the disciplines. The resultant tension can be very destructive. The project presents a pastoral model which seeks to help both groups to minister together harmoniously.  Both are seen to be necessary for the proper function of the church.
