Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Michigan City, Indiana. The model designed consisted of pre- and post-test survey, four teaching/preaching series, contextual associates survey form and a ministry outreach sign-up sheet. This action research model involved both the researcher as well as the congregation as participants to affect changes in attitudes toward social issues. The eight-week Bible study on the Gospels was developed with context associates and employed by new Christians. Both groups took tests before and after the study to determine the study's effects on their biblical understanding and faith. A third group took the tests but not the study. The focus group for the study were ministerial preparation students at Faithful Central from diverse denominational backgrounds. Thirty students attended two-hour sessions for ten weeks. Qualitative data analysis instruments evaluated the results of the study. The purpose was to find a culturally sensitive methodology which could be relevant to different cultural contexts. The model was implemented in two countries, Italy and the United States of America. In both cases, the methodology focused on the application of a narrative approach to the task of care. The first part of the project involved establishing a computer center at the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The second part involved developing a course of instruction and putting together a workbook on computer basics. The design, implementation, and evaluation of the model were based on participatory action research methodology. The uniqueness of this project is that it offers parishioners an opportunity to use story sharing and the grieving process to deal with the change and transition associated with this move. Focus group sessions and 'town-hall' meetings provide opportunities for sharing and growth. This process resulted in an effective partnership producing a curriculum which was culturally sensitive and committed to excellence.
