Modifications were made each year for each group. There was a concern that the experience be more than a course on the history, polity, doctrine, or theology of Methodism. Instead of offering a class on information about Christ and Christianity, a process of Christian formation was sought. Mutual accountability of the covenant group was combined with instruction on the acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, in the atmosphere of faith sharing-telling the stories of our faith. Participants wrote a group covenant, met for 18 weeks for sharing, prayer, and instruction, and used the Sunday Lectionary for daily prayer, meditation, and preparation for Christian living. The covenant was sealed with a service of consecration called a Celebration of New Beginnings in Faith."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717256169521152,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:15:24.002Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:31:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:59:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5931f9be-73f5-4aca-842b-7f697ee13f35","accessControl_ssim":["6b7c7ded-b53d-4eef-b41a-67f59e57cc44"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Building bridges in northern Ireland's divided community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:31:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:44:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["129f60cc-b1e7-42a8-b4c0-a3d105d90c6f"],"hasLease_ssim":["85d7b071-b204-4fa5-b47e-5005780c74c1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["University of the South"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald Smith Armentrout","Robert Davis Hughes"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"location_tesim":["Northern Ireland"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gordon McMullan"],"publisher_tesim":["University of the South School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Terrorism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["During the quarter century commencing 1969 Northern Ireland experienced political and sectarian-motivated violence, resulting in the lawless killing of over three thousand people, ten times that number were injured, and millions of pounds worth of damage done to property and business. This essay sets the parameters of a Christian understanding of salvation within the framework of the church's message and liturgy. The message of salvation begins with a word about death and ends in a word about life. This message is dramatically demonstrated in the sacraments of baptism and communion; baptism as initiatory and communion as culmination. The result of a fuller understanding of salvation is solid grounding for the church's renewal. A rich soteriology both focuses the church on God's specific saving actions, and offers a clear invitation of inclusion into God's saving reign."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716432660922368,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:02:18.643Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:49:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:01:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"100439e2-f5d1-4968-810a-eedaab6f8be5","accessControl_ssim":["803f97ec-589f-4dab-943e-85be3d90ef68"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Introducing Christianity to non-Christians in Taiwan"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:49:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:34:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1cf94c06-c3a2-4a79-8f89-d812ab5fd2ac"],"hasLease_ssim":["c35632f5-8ab0-4470-b0db-2ad1171d4f62"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["University of the South"],"advisor_tesim":["Peyton Craighill"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"location_tesim":["Taiwan"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charles C Chen"],"keyword_tesim":["Christianity and Eastern religions"],"publisher_tesim":["University of the South School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work","Christianity","Interfaith relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This evangelistic project, originally written in Chinese, introduces Christianity from the perspective of Chinese culture.
