However, in many rural communities, the leadership, both ordained and lay, are not sufficiently theologically grounded and educationally cultivated to meet the challenges of leadership. The author created this ministry tool to affirm, inform, empower and bridge the gap between a pastor and ministry leaders, particularly the deacon's ministry, in a rural Black Baptist church. Specifically, the author implemented, observed, and evaluated the impact of introducing the worship arts (dance, drama, music, visual and media art) into the corporate worship experience. Ultimately, the author concluded that the introduction of the worship arts into the corporate worship experience has reinvigorated the worship spirit of the congregation and heightened the congregation's receptivity to change. She contended that sexual violence victims need people who theologian Miroslav Volf describes as 'social agents' to assist them by using resources from within and beyond exclusive denominational and cultural communal boundaries.
