Shame must be attended to, or ita has the probability of manifesting in many harmful ways. Healing shame-based personalities is a sure way to find healing and wholeness. Shame is a deep social problem leading even more so to profound social, emotional and personality disorders. The purpose of this research is to bring attention to the plight of African American adolescent males and their problems with shame. Human disobedience disrupts God's intent and introduces shame, fear and vulnerability into the human condition. Though we try, humankind cannot restore what is lost due to disobedience. We cannot cover our nakedness and shame. Only God's mercy can adequately respond to our need. God covers our shame. Through baptism, prayer, vocation and resurrection we share in the glory of Christ.
