Since sanctification is a continuing process of change involving both the individual and the society, peacemaking provides the substance and direction of this process of change. In a context of war/conflict, such as what is currently obtaining in the Philippines, peacemaking is the way to proclaim the Good News and to witness to Gods redeeming love. It is the contention of the author, however, that the local churches are neither oriented nor equipped to participate in peacemaking. It is therefore important that strong formational programs have to be launched towards this purpose, targeting pastors, lay preachers, Sunday School teachers and leaders of lay organizations. The local churches will prove faithful to the gospel by engaging in the ministry of peacemaking."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718266221887488,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:31:27.263Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:35:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:03:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"43738100-9b6b-4b4e-8bff-06faecca0b09","accessControl_ssim":["01e8cbcf-cc50-4600-8d3d-18839a9ab82f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of the uniqueness of John Wesley's class meeting and its application to [the] Korean Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:35:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:05:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["026d1d28-478e-4244-8bc1-e2ba46416ef3"],"hasLease_ssim":["ed4a4c17-4eb4-4676-a087-003d747d067a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Lowes Watson"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"location_tesim":["Korea"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. However, facing the new millennium, the Korean churches need to be more matured and renewed for the growth in quality by the training of the congregation to be disciples of Jesus Christ. So, the main focus of this paper is to analyze John Wesley's theological background that made possible his reforming movement, and to investigate the way he developed this tool of renewal, namely, the class meeting. In light of this analysis, the author evaluates whether such a method is still feasible for the contemporary Korean churches today. The method of study used by the author was the pro-active model as outlined by William Myers in his book, Research in Ministry: A Primer for the Doctor of Ministry Program. The results of the research indicated that 50% of the participants who were not involved in ministries with the poor prior to the study-immersion experience became involved in such ministries following the experience. Additionally, 40% indicated that study alone provided such a motivation. 20% indicated that experience alone provided such a motivation, and 40% indicated that both study and experience led to such a change in their lives. The author concluded that a combination of both study and hands-on experience are necessary in order to motivate persons to be engaged in ministry with the poor."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718458550648832,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:34:30.682Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:32:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:57:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ae2f651b-2c57-4a95-bdfa-f552a1f5539c","accessControl_ssim":["ca72d26d-f418-4970-a4e2-60c9f310ca71"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Shall we gather at the river?: searching for the seeds of God's revival of contemporary Methodism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:32:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:09:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3729358e-28eb-4acc-a090-522ef0652ce2"],"hasLease_ssim":["2040d47e-43fe-4642-b53a-9050be13a7a0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James C Logan"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The issue at hand is the improvement of confirmation training and the training for discipleship in general. The author suggests that the books of Luke and Acts together describe a course of study for new Christians. The thesis is that the content of the early church's discipleship training focused primarily on the life of Jesus and the lives of contemporary saints. The project based on this thesis is a multimedia tool for discipleship that uses original songs, text and Internet computer language to offer a synopsis of Jesus' life as primary model and contemporary saints, Oscar Romero and Mother Teresa, as corollaries.
