The author's concern has been how ministries of pastors can be enhanced to understand the cultural context of their local congregations.  The author believes that the seminars conducted would give them new insights. To explore this notion, the author planned and executed a learning and worship experience that demonstrated and discussed spoken word as sacred art for sacred space. The church often lacks ministries that channel the warrior spirits in boys in healthy directions.  The author explored the father-son metaphors in the Scripture and various warrior traditions and identified valuable ethical elements for a ministry focused on initiation. The three-year research focuses on the restarting experience of the Wellfleet United Methodist Church in Massachusetts, which employed strategies from both experiences, the planting of new churches and the turning around of troubled congregations.  The research describes the good, the bad, and the ugly of changing course in people's spiritual journeys and congregational lives.
