It deals with several areas of the varied roles of the church, as a tool for activation of local church ministry. The ministry teams function not only to bring church ministry to concretely respond to needs of both a congregation and a secular people, but also to make connections between a congregation's abstract faith and their current reality. In addition, this study documents various methods to make local church ministry function to nurture its own congregation's spirituality, either as participants or as effective lay leaders in its ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125244193275904,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:09:02.853Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:53:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:20:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a3dd854f-7d04-4dd3-bba0-2a164ed057b2","accessControl_ssim":["b7d62e17-1cf1-429c-b614-856e04fc529a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Is a church-operated health system viable in the nation's capital?"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:53:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:53:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["48670a5c-68d0-4bb7-9267-39688fc676e0"],"hasLease_ssim":["465e3a2a-f876-4e20-b352-3336846ebc63"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James M Shopshire"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The remainder showed slight improvement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719510249308160,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:51:13.660Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:10:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"01bbc1f9-97a9-4096-a6b8-67754ca29726","accessControl_ssim":["a24af0c0-4d32-4712-8fa8-c0f78000ec18"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sankofa Yenkyi: towards indigenization of the Methodist Church Ghana"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:09:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a1f4a172-37a8-448e-b700-9e348d256d99"],"hasLease_ssim":["2d5435c6-4e7a-4ada-8c6d-6cddbd61d715"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Josiah U Young"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"location_tesim":["Ghana"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Today, over three decades later, she continues to follow the British-Western cultural patterns in theology and worship. African theological beliefs and cultural practices are still foreign to her church. As a result, members practice their traditional beliefs outside of the church and Western cultural norms in the church. This is a problem the church has not been able to address. This paper will attempt to highlight some of the African practices, examine their theological relevance, and evaluate them. I will examine why the church is still pro-Western after nearly 40 years of autonomy, and make recommendations as to why she should focus on her traditional concepts in the new millennium to influence her changing them, and or incorporating them in her worship, practices, and beliefs."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716979414663168,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:11:00.068Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:42:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2c39f44c-f1e7-41d5-9b3d-89a9e82c9614","accessControl_ssim":["25367708-ec64-4dfb-88bb-0da68d5d119c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Praxis and prayer: finding a balance in the church and in our lives"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:25:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4710e0e4-c755-4ab8-9613-9913d8a2781a"],"hasLease_ssim":["5eaddae9-7fda-486f-9fd9-4c9c66f96ad4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas M Strong"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Believing that educational and experiential tools can enhance persons' learning and thereby assist in the changing of their attitudes and behaviors, eighteen volunteers were given a series of study materials and activities, and observed and interviewed to note the impact of this work on them. As the volunteers studied the resource, They Walked in the Spirit through reading it and using a study guide in weekly group discussion, worked on questionnaires, completed homework assignments, and evaluated their experience, they noted that they were reminded of the essential nature of an integrated Christian life. During the study and since that time, the volunteers have demonstrated their learning through their renewed lives and the practices of Christian involvement which they have initiated and continued in the local community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715191245504512,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:42:34.737Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:48:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:00:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"be014a24-5a5d-4e00-89ce-e61643462bd2","accessControl_ssim":["0beaddf7-00c5-4176-98d0-72a36bb5c6e6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Unfolding grace: the training of mentors for youth in the area of spirituality"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:48:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:36:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["00e7b80b-95ce-4a19-9d0c-7d83658ac2a2"],"hasLease_ssim":["c8e80b9b-73a1-45f6-accd-c89661b83310"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lucy Lind Hogan"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
