The evidence was excerpted from the scriptures, from portions of formative theology, from feminist writings in the social sciences, and from three case studies in which various psychotherapuetic models were used in the counseling sessions that demonstrate the impact of the abuse of power. The participants in the research were elders in congregations of the Reformed Church in America where the pastor had served at least ten years.  A questionnaire allowed those elders to rank eight areas of ministry and to give an indication of the health of the pastoral relationship. A booklet of seven lessons was written for the 'Participant' newly married couple and another booklet was developed for the discipling couple who were termed the 'Host Couple'.  Participants are to be accountable to the 'Host Couple' for the first year of their
