The first step involves stating the discrepancy, the second step is an analysis of the ambiguities, and the third step is finding God's solution to the problem. The training method, like the one Jesus used, is called the experiential approach, not the academic model.  First Baptist Church of Tempe, Arizona, used the experiential approach, while applying the six steps toward their journey of Ephesians 4:11-12.  The results after four years include: salvation almost weekly, nine pastors in training, significant increase in the number of Christians serving, PITs preaching on Sunday mornings and evenings, twenty new evangelism explosion teams each year, church budgets achieved, a balance of grace and holiness, and no super stars. This thesis discusses the universal problem of nominalism and offers a plan to reduce the high proportion of nominal Christians through the introduction of a specialized training program for pastors which concentrates on nurturing and discipling new converts to the point where they become self-motivating.  The author highlights anthropological and historical factors which have contributed to the problem of nominalism. The results established certain commonalities in work-related personality characteristics among the research group, which aided in producing a 'pastor suitability profile' of personality characteristics judged significant for a job-fit with the pastoral ministry. Research revealed that funeral plans are best made in advance, eliminating unnecessary, hidden expenses and avoidance of emotional trauma.
