The first learning event describes the facilitation of a series of three training sessions in which skilled Catholic campus ministers came together to design a training and renewal experience.  The second learning event describes how the methodology and theory of the initial training sessions was carried out in a training and renewal program. Ths information was gained through a written survey of those missionaries who had completed the Assemblies of God Graduate School (AGGS) pre-field training program.  The results of the survey showed a strongly favorable response to the AGGS pre-field training program, with those aspects dealing with cross-cultural communication and cultural adjustment rating the highest.  Language learning was of greatest concern. The principles of andragogy employed in a non-formal setting were found to be the most effective.  Training for cross-cultural service required a heavy emphasis on the development of interpersonal skills. Couples who took the course indicated improvement in their relationship-development skills and a clarification of values and goals for their relationship.  The participants felt that they could deal with conflict more openly and creatively than before and had learned some important communication skills. This representative group of Christians consisted of volunteers who were compared to a control group from the rest of the congregation.  An educational measurement tool to evaluate the results preceded and followed the course.  The purpose of the project was considered to be fulfilled if statistical improvement in self-esteem of an average of ten percent for the group as a whole was obtained. Track 1 included lectures on the Bible and ethics. Track 2 employed book studies to develop a spiritual language.  Track 3 focused on prayer techniques.  Third, the courses were designed using professional teaching models.  Lastly, the author evaluated the structure via surveys and interviews.
